FINDING THE SCOPE AND LIMITATION FOR MY PROJECTS

WEEK 9

A scope limitation is a restriction on the applicability of an auditor's report that may arise from the inability to obtain sufficient appropriate evidence about a component and the system .  When our projects is unable to apply all the audit procedures that are considered necessary, either by circumstances the audit is limited in scope. Some scope limitations arise for reasons that are beyond the control .  Basically this project is divided into two main parts which is Hardware development which consist of the part that we can see and touch like development of  ir sensor , development of microcontroller part with the buzzer and also LED.  While the software development, are the programming for every part. In every product they must be a limitation . Limitation can be defined about  what our products cannot do and have a difficulities in developing it, in my projects  Sometimes our IR sensor cannot detect our eye if our eye open and close too fast and exact functionality depend on great positioning and aiming of emitter and detector respect to eye . So to prevent the limitation, i need to put the IR sensor at the proper place so that it can detect in any condition . And the main problem that i can trace from my research was, it is a very difficult work and veru difficult thing to do in tracing our eye by using IR sensor. The IR sensor can trace but it is must be place precisely .

RESEARCH THE AVAILABILITY & RELIABILITY OF THE PROJECTS.

WEEK 8

After doing the research about the projects, in this week i had find the projects that have the same concept of my projects. After that i had found the projects that same concept like mine but it is more advance projects. So i take this projects as my inspiration . Although the system is not same but the concept is quite the same.

RESEARCH ABOUT SOFTWARE

WEEK 7

The previous work is study about the main components of the system and for this week i had make a study on software that i want to use in developing this projects. I had make a research about the projects from the internet, books , journal and etc. And the software that i may use is KEIL software which is microcontroller software but i need to do more research about the projects . The introduction about the software are The µVision IDE from Keil combines project management, make facilities, source code editing, program debugging, and complete simulation in one powerful environment. The µVision development platform is easy-to-use and helping you quickly create embedded programs that work. The µVision editor and debugger are integrated in a single application that provides a seamless embedded project development environment.

CONTINUE RESEARCH COMPONENTS

WEEK 6

In this week , i had make research about the other components used in my projects and for  this week , i had research about the characteristics of the components and also  circuit that used.

  • ·         IR SENSOR
  • ·         LM 358 COMPARATOR
  • ·         LCD
  • ·         BUZZER

   IR SENSOR

    LM 358 COMPARATOR

An operational amplifier (op-amp) is a DC-coupled high-gain electronic voltage amplifier with a differential input and, usually, a single-ended output. In this configuration, an op-amp produces an output potential (relative to circuit ground) that is typically hundreds of thousands of times larger than the potential difference between its input terminals. Op-amps are among the most widely used electronic devices today, being used in a vast array of consumer, industrial, and scientific devices.. Op-amps may be packaged as components, or used as elements of more complex integrated circuits.

   LCD

LCD is used to display the driver condition. I had choose to display on LCD because of LCD will function during day or night. So other people can still know about the driver condition . the working of LCD are is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly.LCDs are available to display arbitrary images (as in a general-purpose computer display) or fixed images which can be displayed or hidden, such as preset words, digits, and 7-segment displays as in a digital clock. They use the same basic technology, except that arbitrary images are made up of a large number of small pixels, while other displays have larger elements.

    BUZZER

A buzzer or beeper is an audio signalling device which may be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric. Typical uses of buzzers and beepers include alarm devices, timers and confirmation of user input such as a mouse click or keystroke .

PREPARING THE SYSTEM OF EYE DETECTION AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION

WEEK 5

PREPARING THE SYSTEM OF EYE DETECTION AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION

The development of this projects are divided by 2 which is hardware part and also software part. The above  figure is the block diagram of eye detection and accident prevention projects. The methodology shows the process flow that will happen for this project construction. For the first stage , the eye blink will be detect by using IR sensor as sensor to detect eye blinking . the IR sensor are divided into 2 part which is IR transmitter which used to  transmitted the infrared rays to our eye and the reflected ray will be received by IR receiver. IR transmitter and IR receiver must be mounted at the straight line to each other. This is because the further distance between emitter and receiver will decrease the amount of infrared light hitting on emitter. The IR sensor will be mounted at the LM358 comparator which The comparator is constructed with LM 358 operational amplifier. In the comparator circuit the reference voltage is given to inverting input terminal. The non inverting input terminal is connected IR receiver. When interrupt the IR rays between the IR transmitter and receiver, the IR receiver is not conducting. So the comparator non inverting input terminal voltage is higher then inverting input. Now the comparator output is in the range of +5V. This voltage is given to  microcontroller or PC and led so led will glow.  the output from the sensor will be send to the microcontroller. If the eye is closed means the output of IR receiver is high otherwise the IR receiver output is low. This to know the eye is closing or opening position.  If the eye are still in ‘0’ conditions which means that the eye is still opening the sequence will be repeated until the output of receiver is “1” , then if the output of IR receiver is “1” the the microcontroller will send the signal to the output ehich is indicare by the LCD which is the function is to tell the behind people to be ware with this vehicle because the driver in the drowsiness condition, LED will indicate the emergency lamp and the function will be benafit to the othe vehicle and also alarm which will make sure that the driver will wake up .

SENSOR THAT DETECT EYE BLINKING

WEEK 4:

I had made research about the sensor that need to use to detect the eye and I had found a few type of sensor that used as sensor to detect  eye blinking and finally I choose IR sensor because it is suitable for make prototype.

IR Sensor (IR Receiver and IR Emitter)

The basic principle of IR sensor is based on an IR emitter and an IR receiver. IR emitter will emit infrared continuously when power is supplied to it. On the other hand, the IR receiver will be connected and perform the task of a voltage divider. IR receiver can be imagined as a transistor with its base current  determined by the intensity of IR light received. The  lower the intensity of IR light cause higher resistance between collector-emitter terminals of transistor, and  limiting current from collector to emiiter. This change  of resistance will further change the voltage at the  output of voltage divider. In others word, the greater  the intensity of IR light hitting IR receiver, the lower  the resistance of IR receiver and hence the output mvoltage of voltage divider will decreased. Usually the  IR emitter and IR receiver will be mounted side by side,  pointing to a reflective surface. The further distance  away between emitter and receiver decrease the  amount of infrared light hitting the receiver if the  distance between the sensor and a reflective surface is  fixed.  Since the output voltage from voltage divider varies  with the intensity of IR light, and microcontroller is not  used in this project, a comparator (LM324) is used to show the changes. The eye-blink sensor works by illuminating the eye and/or eyelid area with infrared light, then monitoring the changes in the reflected light using a phototransistor and differentiator circuit. The exact functionality depends greatly on the positioning and aiming of the emitter and detector with respect to the eye.

WEEK 3

In final year project (semester 1 ) ,we need to show the research progress . In unikl bmi, we had given a choice to choose whether update the research progress in Log book or in the blog. My adviser had asked me to create a blog to update the progress of every meeting and all the result of my research must be updated in this blog also. I preferred to update the progress in blog than in log book. This is one of the way of learning process toward the excellent in future. And we have to send our blog address to RPS bmi and to adviser .

Accident statistic in Malaysia

Why I choose this projects as my final year projects. Based on the statistics above show that from day to day, week to week , month to month and year to year , the statistics of the accident happened had increased . By looking at the newspaper , the main problem why accident happened because of driver become asleep after a long journey. By looking at this problem I get an ideas in develop the projects that help driver to awake from the sleep when they become sleepy . This will help to increase the accident statistics in malaysia .

WEEK 1 & WEEK 2

As a one of the candidate for Final Year Project for Semester 1,we have to choose lecturer to recommend and supervise student .Student have to consult with the adviser time to time and report to them the progress of the project. I had decided to choose SIR IZWAN ARIEF  from electronic section to monitor me in making final year projects . After choose my adviser, I had met him and asking whether he agree to supervise me in making my final year project and ALHAMDULLILAH , he agreed and he had told me make research in project that I want to do and bring the simple proposal on the next day to ask for his opinion. During my research , I had read an article about the accident happened on the highway because of driver fell asleep while driving and this article had attract me in producing something that can decrease the accident statistic in Malaysia. After make a research and with my trustful decision, I had decided to make "eye detection for accident prevention". On the next day I had presented my ideas to my supervisor and finally he approved my title. From now and the next week , I need to research about my final year project to get more ideas in producing this project which is my aim is to decrease the statistics of accident happened in Malaysia.
